The Problem

Car dealerships often rely on fragmented systems: users browse listings across multiple platforms, and contacting sellers is slow or confusing. Buyers can struggle to discover the right car, while sellers face inefficiencies managing listings and inquiries.

The client approached us to build a unified, scroll-based app experience that simplified discovery, engagement, and communication for both buyers and sellers.

The Goal

  • Create a seamless, scroll-based app interface for browsing cars

  • Make it easy for users to view detailed vehicle information and contact sellers

  • Design an admin dashboard for dealers to efficiently manage listings and inquiries

  • Deliver a mobile-first, modern user experience that feels familiar and intuitive

  • Establish a scalable framework for future features (filters, recommendations, notifications)

My Role

As the UX/UI Designer for AskAutoBee, I was responsible for:

  • Leading user flow and feature planning for buyers and sellers

  • Wireframing and prototyping the mobile app and admin interface

  • Designing UI components, visual hierarchy, and interaction patterns

  • Creating a design system to ensure consistency across the app and admin

  • Collaborating directly with the client to refine the concept and align on priorities

Research & Strategy

Through client interviews, competitor analysis, and industry research, key insights were identified:

  • Users are familiar with social-scroll interfaces. This behaviour could be leveraged for car discovery

  • Information needs to be clearly structured (price, specs, photos) to reduce friction

  • Dealers require efficiency in managing listings and responding to inquiries

This informed a two-pronged design strategy: a scroll-first buyer experience and a clean, functional admin dashboard for dealers.

Wireframing & Prototyping

Low-fidelity wireframes helped establish the layout and scrolling interactions for the buyer app. For the admin dashboard, wireframes focused on data clarity, filtering, and action flows.

Mid- and high-fidelity prototypes were then created to validate interaction patterns, swipe behaviors, and information hierarchy. Iterative testing with the client ensured both buyer and dealer experiences were intuitive and effective.

Design Approach

The visual direction focused on:

  • Modern, clean visual style to make car listings stand out

  • Scrollable feed for fast discovery, inspired by social media behaviour

  • Clear information hierarchy: images, specs, price, and seller details

  • Consistent component library for app and admin dashboard

  • Mobile-first responsive design, with future-proof layout for additional features

RESULTS

• Delivered a buyer-focused mobile app with seamless scroll-based discovery

• Created a functional, intuitive admin dashboard for dealers

• Improved information clarity and reduced friction for buyers

• Streamlined listing management and messaging for dealers

• Developed a scalable design system for future updates and features

The final solution transformed the client’s idea into a polished, user-friendly product that balanced engagement, usability, and business needs.

The final solution includes a mobile app with a swipeable car feed, detailed vehicle pages and in-app messaging. The desktop admin dashboard allows sellers to upload cars, manage enquiries, and track interest all in one clean interface.
